Today is one of those days math teachers get all excited about!! It's pi day!! To show our school spirit one of our HS math teachers designed this t-shirt for us to wear to show our Pi-rate pride! Even teachers outside of the math and science department bought one to wear today. So much fun!

Happy Pi(rate) Day!!!
As a middle school team we got McDonald's apple pies for everyone (because they're cheap!), and in class we listened to pi-tunes: Lose Yourself in the Digits by Pi Diddy :) and Loving Pi (a piano ballad that was composed using the digits of pi by assigning them to particular keys on the piano). One of my 8th grade boys showed up to second period with 2 pies he had baked for the class. Fun times in math class! Happy Pi Day everyone!!!

I LOVE teaching middle school math! All the potential for learning and growth is inspiring. I have a master's degree in math education, and I've taught 6th - 8th grade math for more than a decade. I've also been a 5th grade teacher and an upper elementary math specialist working with small groups of students who struggled with math. I'm excited to write about what we're doing in class and hear your ideas too!
